Herbal tea, which is also called a tisane, is not made from tea leaves but is an herbal mixture which can include roots, seeds, leaves or dried flowers. It is basically a mixture of botanicals designed to promote good health and relieve pain and other symptoms.

Herbal tea remedies can provide many important health benefits. They can act as a relaxant, aid with digestive and stomach problems, help to cleanse our bodies of unwanted toxins, boost our energy and metabolism levels, and promote overall good health.

To prepare an herbal tea remedy you pour boiling water over the herb mixture, or tea bag if you are using an herbal tea in bag form, and then allow it to steep awhile before drinking. You will only want to steep most herbal tea remedies for a few minutes so that it doesn’t get too bitter.

There are many herbal tea remedies from all over the world which contain important health benefits. Chrysanthemum tea from China, hibiscus tea from the Middle East and mugicha from Japan are examples of common herbal tea remedies used throughout the world.

There are many different types of herbal tea remedies that have a wide variety of tastes and have different health benefits. Chamomile is known to have calming attributes as well as anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties. Lemon grass also has calming properties. Fennel can help with digestion as well as soothing upper respiratory problems. Ginger can help with reducing nausea, migraine headaches and help with colds. Ginseng tea is an energy booster and promotes overall good health. Hibiscus tea can sooth menstrual cramps and help with reducing high blood pressure. Peppermint tea can provide stress relief and also help with digestive and stomach issues. Raspberry leaf can help with diarrhea, sore throats and colds and also help to keep skin, teeth, bones and nails healthy. Sarsaparilla promotes healthy skin and is an energy booster.

One thing to keep in mind is that although herbal tea remedies are natural and therefore usually safe, some may cause allergies or even be toxic in some cases. So you do need to do your research on various herbal teas before consuming them, particularly if you suffer from allergies. Also be aware that many herbal products such as teas, capsule, tablets and powders are not subject to federal and state regulation, so their medicinal claims may not have been subjected to rigorous testing.

Herbal tea remedies provide many important health benefits, as well as offering a nice hot , flavorful beverage to enjoy.

Do you find yourself becoming more and more forgetful? Are you having a hard time remembering things, or do you tend to forget why you went into a certain room? Using herbs is a natural, safe and effective way to boost your memory. There are several well known natural herbs and supplements that can help increase your memory and improve your overall health.

One of the best natural memory boosters is ginkgo bilboa extract. The reason why this natural supplement is so effective in boosting memory is because it increases the blood flow throughout your entire body. This also naturally results in increasing the blood flow to your brain. Blood has oxygen in it and a constant flow of oxygen to the brain helps keep your memory stay sharp.

Rosemary is another natural herb that can help improve memory. Not only does this herb add a lot of flavor to your food, but it also helps to stimulate the blood flow to your brain and help to relieve headaches which can impair memory.

Green tea is another great memory booster that has other important health benefits. Not only can it give you a memory boost but it is an effective metabolism booster as well which can help you burn fat and lose weight.

Ginseng also can help to improve your memory function. It is a great energy booster as well. Improved energy can help to ward off depression, which can contribute to memory loss.

There is also an herb that is actually called memory herb. You can grow this in a pot or hanging basket, and make a tea from the leaves or use the leaves in a salad. It does tend to be a bit on the bitter side so you may need a sweetener if you use it in tea.

There is an Indian herb called gotu kola that also has a great reputation for helping with memory loss. A half a teaspoon can be put in warm water and drunk several times a day to help boost your memory.

Many of these herbs can be ingested, but another popular method is aromatherapy. With this method an herb or combination of herbs are heated together with water and then you breathe in the vapors. This helps to clear your mind, improve your focus, help you to relax and can also improve your mood.

If you find yourself starting to have memory loss problems it could be a sign of age, or possibly stress or depression from your every day hectic life. Consuming natural herbs or taking a natural herb supplement can help in boosting your memory and improving your overall health.

Eating healthy, nutritious meals and maintaining good health is absolutely critical during pregnancy. Vitamins and natural herbs can be used to help provide some of the essential nutrients a pregnant woman needs and also help relieve some of the more common discomforts associated with pregnancy. In some cases herbs and vitamins may offer a more natural, healthier, cheap and effective way than medicinal alternatives. However, there are a few things to keep in mind if you are considering using herbs and vitamins while pregnant.

The first thing to keep in mind is that although vitamins and herbs are natural, not all of them are safe to take while pregnant. Another thing is that herbs and natural supplements do not always undergo all the vigorous testing that is required by the FDA for drugs and medicines. Therefore, if you are considering using vitamins and herbs it is important to consult with your midwife, physician or other health care provider. You may also want to consult with a trained herbalist.

There are important minerals and vitamins that are very important for fetal growth and development as well as the overall health for both the mother and child during pregnancy. These include calcium iron and folic acid. In order for a baby to properly develop and be healthy, it is vital that a pregnant woman eat a well balanced diet and also exercise. The diet should primarily consist of unprocessed foods with a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lots of water. Your health care provider may also suggest a prenatal vitamin or multivitamin to ensure that you get all the extra nutrients you need while pregnant.

In terms of using herbs during pregnancy to provide nutrients and provide relief, as discussed above be sure to consult with your health care provider before taking them. You need to have a thorough understanding of various herbs as well as the herb parts (i.e. the leaves or roots) and the form they should be used in (tea, tonic, capsule).

Here are some of the most effective herbs for use in pregnancy that have also been rated as safe or as possibly safe to use while pregnant.

Red raspberry leaf- this herb is rich in iron and can help to increase milk production, tone the uterus, decrease nausea and help with easing labor pains.

Peppermint leaf can help to relieve morning sickness, nauseas and flatulence.

Ginger root can help to relieve vomiting and nausea.

There are also herbs that are considered to be either unsafe or as likely unsafe to take while pregnant. These include goldenseal, saw palmetto, ephedra and penny royal.

Herbs and vitamins can help a pregnant women get many of the essential nutrients she needs for her and her baby to stay healthy. They can also be very useful in helping to relieve symptoms such as nausea and morning sickness. Just be sure to consult with your health care provider before deciding which herbs you will take while pregnant.

Today there are hundreds if not thousands of skin care products on the market. However, some of them contain harmful chemicals that may in fact damage your skin rather than help it. Herbal skin care products on the other hand are all natural solutions which use herbs to help fight off the effects of aging, restore moisture to your skin, and help give you a great looking complexion all without the use of harmful chemical and additives.

Herbal skin care is part of herbal medicine. Unlike some skin care products that are marketed as “natural,” herbal skin care products are made with plant and herbal extracts. Humans from around the world have been using indigenous plants for medicinal and healing purposes for thousands of years. Chemically based skin care may have potentially negative side effects, whereas herbal products are made from natural substances and are far less likely to result in harmful side effects and can help to produce healthy, great looking skin.

There are many herbs which can help to promote healthy skin and a great looking complexion. Aloe vera, which has been used traditionally to help heal wounds and burns, is a great moisturizer which helps to prevent your skin from chapping and getting dried out. Comfrey leaves can also act as a moisturizer and help to alleviate wrinkling. To help prevent or eradicate skin wrinkling blackberry leaf can be used. Chamomile makes for a good cleanser, cornflower is an excellent toner and lavender flower can be used as a tonic. Chickweed can be effective against skin allergies. Lemon balm makes a good cleanser and toner. Peppermint can help to restore your skin’s elasticity and to tone the tissues.

For a dry complexion, herbs can help to moisturize your skin. Essential oils from sandalwood, rosewood and palmarosa can be used to stimulate the production of oil in dry skin. Rosemary and peppermint can help to improve circulation as well as help to increase oil production in your skin. Elder flowers can also help to improve your complexion’s texture and tone.

An oily complexion can make your face appear to be shiny. You don’t ever want to stop the production of oil from occurring in your skin completely, but you might want to try using some herbs that can help to slow down its production. Herbs such as basil, cedarwood, eucalyptus, lemon grass, sage, and yarrow can help to normalize oil glands that are overactive.

Insomnia is a common problem today. It can be described as the inability to fall asleep or just the lack of a restful, healthy sleep. Insomnia can be caused by a number of factors including depression, stress, other emotional disorders, environmental factors, and physical imbalances among others. Herbal remedies for insomnia are used to help restore and nourish the body as well as relieve some of the stressors that may be making it hard to sleep.

Good holistic treatment approaches for insomnia are multifaceted in nature and in addition to herbs may also include mineral and vitamin supplements, improved sleep habits, lifestyle changes, behavioral therapy, massage therapy, meditation, exercise, diet, acupuncture, hypnosis, homeopathy and guided imagery among others.

Here are some of the herbs that have been found to be effective in helping to relieve insomnia and promote a healthy, good night’s rest.

Chamomile is a very soothing herb. It can be drank in tea form or chamomile oil can be used in a bath to help to soothe the nerves. It also makes a good massage oil or can be inhaled.

Hops, which is used to flavor beer, has also been used for centuries to help with restlessness, nervousness and sleeplessness.

Lavender is another effective herb for soothing the nervous system. Lavender oil can be added to bath water. It can also be used as a massage oil, in a compress, or inhaled to help alleviate insomnia.

Passion flower is another effective herbal remedy for insomnia, which can help to relieve nervous exhaustion and mental stress due to worry and physical exhaustion. It makes for a very effective sedative without producing any harmful side effects.

Valerian root is a very common herb used as a sedative to help with insomnia as well as restlessness and nervousness. It can be especially effective in helping people who are having a hard time falling asleep due to the fact that it shortens one’s sleep latency. It can also help to reduce nigh time waking. Valerian is a very effective sedative and does not have negative side effects that synthetic sedatives such as Valium can produce.

California poppy is another very effective sedative and herb that helps to promote sleep. It also helps to ease mild forms of anxiety. It is a mild sedative and also has analgesic properties.

Kava kava is another effective sedative that can help to relieve fatigue and sleeplessness.

Herbal remedies for insomnia are natural and safe alternatives to sleeping pills and drugs. They also may prove to be more effective in promoting healthy and restful sleep.

As we all know there is no magic bullet for weight loss. The only secret to losing weight is to burn more calories than you consume. However, there are some herbal weight loss remedies that may help in your goal to lose weight. There are two main ways that herbs help with weight loss. They either act as an appetite suppressant and trick the body into thinking it is full, or they work at speeding up the body’s metabolism which helps to burn calories and fat more effectively.

One popular herbal weight loss product is Hoodia Gordonii. It acts as an appetite suppressant by tricking the brain into believing that the body’s blood sugar level is normal and curbing the sensation of hunger. Appetite suppressants may work short term, but are not an effective long term solution to weight loss. Once the herb is no longer taken, the person trying to lose weight goes back to their old habits.

Guarana is an herb that comes from a Brazilian plant. It contains caffeine and results in increased energy and metabolism. However some people have experienced symptoms such as anxiety, dizziness and high blood pressure from taking Guarana.

Dandelion is a natural diuretic that is sometimes used as an herbal remedy to lose weight. However, diuretics often only promote water weight loss and usually are not effective as a long term weight loss aid.

Cascara is a natural laxative that helps to flush toxins out of the body. The only problem is that laxatives can also removed good bacteria and remove nutrients if used too much.

Green tea is a safe and popular herbal weight loss aid. It comes in the form of tea as well as tablets, concentrated pills and in energy drinks. Green tea is effective in helping to raise the body’s metabolism level which helps to burn calories and fat faster and more effectively. Green tea has especially been seen to be effective for weight loss when combined with a nutritious diet and regular exercise.

Another effective metabolism booster is cayenne. Adding this herb to your food will not only give your meals a lot of flavor but can also act as an effective fat burner.

When it comes to herbal weight loss remedies some are more effective than others. Herbs and foods which act to boost your metabolism offer safe and often effective methods for helping to lose weight. Herbal appetite suppressants and diuretics on the other hand need to be used with caution. Consult with your health care provider before taking any weight loss supplements or herbal remedies.

Depression is a common symptom that affects millions of people around the world. It is characterized by feelings of hopelessness and despair. It can produce mood swings, causes sleep disturbances, head aches, lead to substance abuse, and may even result in suicide if it is not properly treated. In addition to counseling and anti depressants, there are also herbal remedies for depression available as well.

Herbs such as St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng and Valerian root as well as others can be effective in helping to provide depression relief through altering the body’s biochemical processes. Some of these herbs can help to restore lost cell enzymes or brain chemicals. Other herbs can help to increase the level of some specific hormones. Herbal remedies for depression are natural and safe and do not produce a lot of unhealthy side effects.

There are several different herbal remedies that are available.

St John’s wort works as a trycylic antidepressant and an anti-viral and antibiotic agent, while at the same time producing very few side effects. There have been over twenty clinical trials conducted on St. John’s Wort and the studies show that it can be an effective antidepressant for moderate and mild depression while producing few side effects. However it has not been shown to be effective for major forms of depression.

Ginkgo Biloba is an herbal remedy that acts as a strong antidepressant. It helps to increase the flow of blood to the brain as well as other parts of the body. This not only helps with depression but also helps to boost the memory, helps to promote good cardiovascular health and can help to alleviate some Alzheimer’s symptoms.

Ginseng helps to relieve stress, including from trauma, lack of sleep or illness. Ginseng helps to regulate the body’s blood sugar levels and stimulate the immune system.

Omega-3 fatty acids are needed for the brain to function normally. Our bodies do not produce them naturally. They need to come from our diet. There have been studies which have linked depression with low omega-3 fatty acid dietary intake. Countries like Taiwan and Japan, where people eat a lot of fish, have much lower depression levels. Fish like salmon and sardines are rich in omega-3s and fish oil capsules can also be taken.

Valerian root can help with sleep deprivation which has been linked to depression.

Herbal remedies for depression can be a natural, safe and effective way to help relieve some of the symptoms of depression. They should not be used in conjunction with anti depressants and other medications without first consulting with your physician or other health care provider.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Acne is an annoying problem that over eighty percent of teenagers suffer from. More and more adults these days are also suffering from adult acne. There are hundreds of different over the counter acne products and prescriptions available. However, some of these acne products contain harsh chemicals that can have damaging side effects. More and more people are looking for herbal acne treatments as a possible solution to their problem.

An herbal solution can be very effective because using herbs can have a very nourishing effect on your skin. Using more traditional medications and prescriptions may dry out your skin and could possibly also lead to scarring. Herbal acne treatments are also often much less expensive.

Tea tree oil is one of the most effective and common forms of herbal acne treatments. This oil comes from Australia and is used in a variety of herbal remedies. Products that contain tea tree oil help to speed up the healing of acne pustule and also provides a great aromatherapy treatment.

Goldenseal and echinacea are two other herbs that can be used either separately or in combination with tea tree oil. These herbs are widely available in health and drugstores.

Another possibility is to make your own moisturizing paste. One effective solution that can help to fight acne and cleanse your skin is a paste made up of water and chick pea flour. Or for an even greater moisturizing effect instead of water you can use goat milk.

Pastes, ointments and creams are the most common types of herbal acne treatments. However there are also pills that can be taken. Zinc supplements or pills can help to reduce inflammation that is caused by acne. Zinc can either be taken in pill form or you can take a mineral or daily vitamin pill that contains a minimum of 50 mg of zinc. Vitamins A, B-6 and E also help to promote healthy skin.

Herbal treatments may be combined with other forms of herbal medicine to help fight acne. Some herbal practitioners incorporate other types of herbal medicines and practices such as aromatherapy, massage, yoga and changes in diet.

If you are considering trying an herbal acne treatment for your skin, it is good practice to combine this will a healthy lifestyle. You will most likely need to make changes in your diet, drink plenty of water and get regular exercise to help promote healthy skin and to get rid of your acne for good.

Herbal remedies have been used for centuries in native and traditional societies to help cure disease and to promote good health. Today herbal remedies are an alternative we can consider to western medicine. Many important healthy benefits can be derived from using herbal treatment solutions. One of the biggest benefits is that all natural ingredients are used and there aren’t any potentially dangerous chemicals or additives that may cause harmful side effects.

When it comes to herbal remedies the two most common forms are herbal teas and herbal capsules. Herbal tea is quite delicious and comes in a variety of flavors, including green tea, dandelion, chamomile and many others.

Tea is the most consumed beverage in the entire world with the exception of water. It is made from leaves that come from the Camellia sinensis plant native to India as well as parts of Japan and China. The three major forms of tea are oolong, green and black tea. They all come from the same plant but are prepared differently. Tea leaves for all three types of tea are withered, then rolled and heated. Black teas goes through a fermentation process and oolong teas are only partially fermented.

Herbal teas are not made from the Camellia sinensis plant but instead are made from the flowers, seeds, roots, bark and leaves of new plants. Herbal teas are very robust teas and contain many important health benefits. Herbal remedies can also take the form of vital oils and used as a salve or as a component in aromatherapy. Herbal capsules are another form of herbal remedy.

Some people argue that herbal teas are superior to capsules. However there are others who argue just as strongly that herbal capsules are better than the teas. The truth of the matter is that both herbal teas and herbal capsules produce the same effects and have the same potency as well. Green tea leaves can be used to produce green tea or the leaves can be processed and made into a capsule form. Whether you drink the tea or take the capsule it will have the same effect. This holds true for other types of herbal products and herbs as well. It is not the form that you take it in that is important.

So if you are interested in incorporating herbal remedies into your lifestyle, do not get so hung up on the form. If you enjoy drinking tea, drink herbal tea. If you find capsules more convenient then use them instead.

Herbal medicine is the practice of an alternative or non-Western form of medicine that is based around the use of herbs in the forms of raw herbs, herbal tinctures, herbal extracts, herbal supplements as well as teas, ointments, capsules and tablets. The ingredients for these herbal remedies come from plant materials.

Herbal medicine has been practiced for centuries in many parts of the world but is a fairly recent introduction into Western societies. It continues to become more and more popular as more people are looking for alternatives that are based on natural ingredients instead of the pharmaceutical and chemical based solutions offered by traditional Western medicine.

The practice of herbal medicine uses plants to help treat a wide variety of disease and health conditions. Although it is considered alternative in traditional medicine circles, herbal medicine or herbology has a long established history and tradition. Herbalists make use of all parts of plants including the leaves, stems, flowers and roots. The herbal remedies can come in the form of teas, tinctures, capsules, tablets and other forms.

Herbal medicine has been practice since the beginning of humankind. Plants have been used for food, shelter, clothing and medicine from the beginning of our history. Over time, through experimentation and observation herbal medicine evolved. Much of the knowledge that was acquired by primitive cultures are still used in herbal medicine today.

There are many, many herbal products available today. They can be purchased in health food stores, through herbalists and even in some conventional retail outlets. Herbal medicines can be bought and used in the form of teas, tinctures, extracts, ointments, lozenges, salves, tablets, capsules and others. It is the herbs that are the important part and not the form they come in.

Are herbal medicines safe? Herbal remedies are made of natural ingredients and do tend to be safer than many pharmaceutical drugs or medicines proscribed by Western medicine. However, there are a few things that need to be kept in mind. One of the biggest potential dangers is combining the use of herbal medicines with prescriptions of Western medicines. The combination could cause potentially harmful reactions. Before using herbal medicines in conjunction with more traditional medications you will need to consult with your health care provider and possibly a trained herbalist.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many herbal medicines are not subject to the oversight of the FDA and have not been rigorously tested. So some claims made by herbal product manufacturers may not have been substantiated.

Herbal medicine does offer a natural alternative to traditional Western medicine. It has been successfully used for centuries. Just be sure to consult with your health care providers before using them, particularly in conjunction with other forms of medicine.
