Happy Halloween everyone.

Acne is an annoying problem that over eighty percent of teenagers suffer from.  More and more adults these days are also suffering from adult acne.  There are hundreds of different over the counter acne products and prescriptions available.  However, some of these acne products contain harsh chemicals that can have damaging side effects.  More and more people are looking for herbal acne treatments as a possible solution to their problem.

An herbal solution can be very effective because using herbs can have a very nourishing effect on your skin. Using more traditional medications and prescriptions may dry out your skin and could possibly also lead to scarring.  Herbal acne treatments are also often much less expensive.

Tea tree oil is one of the most effective and common forms of herbal acne treatments.  This oil comes from Australia and is used in a variety of herbal remedies.  Products that contain tea tree oil help to speed up the healing of acne pustule and also provides a great aromatherapy treatment.

Goldenseal and echinacea are two other herbs that can be used either separately or in combination with tea tree oil.  These herbs are widely available in health and drugstores.

Another possibility is to make your own moisturizing paste.  One effective solution that can help to fight acne and cleanse your skin is a paste made up of water and chick pea flour.  Or for an even greater moisturizing effect instead of water you can use goat milk.

Pastes, ointments and creams are the most common types of herbal acne treatments.  However there are also pills that can be taken.  Zinc supplements or pills can help to reduce inflammation that is caused by acne.  Zinc can either be taken in pill form or you can take a mineral or daily vitamin pill that contains a minimum of 50 mg of zinc.  Vitamins A, B-6 and E also help to promote healthy skin.

Herbal treatments may be combined with other forms of herbal medicine to help fight acne.  Some herbal practitioners incorporate other types of herbal medicines and practices such as aromatherapy, massage, yoga and changes in diet.

If you are considering trying an herbal acne treatment for your skin, it is good practice to combine this will a healthy lifestyle.  You will most likely need to make changes in your diet, drink plenty of water and get regular exercise to help promote healthy skin and to get rid of your acne for good.
