Herbal remedies have been used for centuries in native and traditional societies to help cure disease and to promote good health.  Today herbal remedies are an alternative we can consider to western medicine.  Many important healthy benefits can be derived from using herbal treatment solutions.  One of the biggest benefits is that all natural ingredients are used and there aren’t any potentially dangerous chemicals or additives that may cause harmful side effects.

When it comes to herbal remedies the two most common forms are herbal teas and herbal capsules.  Herbal tea is quite delicious and comes in a variety of flavors, including green tea, dandelion, chamomile and many others.

Tea is the most consumed beverage in the entire world with the exception of water.  It is made from leaves that come from the Camellia sinensis plant native to India as well as parts of Japan and China.  The three major forms of tea are oolong, green and black tea.  They all come from the same plant but are prepared differently.  Tea leaves for all three types of tea are withered, then rolled and heated.  Black teas goes through a fermentation process and oolong teas are only partially fermented.

Herbal teas are not made from the Camellia sinensis plant but instead are made from the flowers, seeds, roots, bark and leaves of new plants.  Herbal teas are very robust teas and contain many important health benefits.  Herbal remedies can also take the form of vital oils and used as a salve or as a component in aromatherapy.  Herbal capsules are another form of herbal remedy.

Some people argue that herbal teas are superior to capsules.  However there are others who argue just as strongly that herbal capsules are better than the teas.  The truth of the matter is that both herbal teas and herbal capsules produce the same effects and have the same potency as well.  Green tea leaves can be used to produce green tea or the leaves can be processed and made into a capsule form.  Whether you drink the tea or take the capsule it will have the same effect.  This holds true for other types of herbal products and herbs as well.  It is not the form that you take it in that is important.

So if you are interested in incorporating herbal remedies into your lifestyle, do not get so hung up on the form.  If you enjoy drinking tea, drink herbal tea.  If you find capsules more convenient then use them instead.
